Invoering
Deze gecombineerde graad ontwikkelt je vaardigheden in en begrip van informatica en elektronica. Deze twee gebieden liggen ten grondslag aan de meeste aspecten van onze manier van leven. Krijg een goed begrip van de principes van hardwaregebaseerde, softwaregebaseerde of systeemgebaseerde technologieën. Het ontwikkelen van computervaardigheden naast kennis van elektronica opent spannende carrièremogelijkheden. Je kunt je kennis en vaardigheden toepassen in verschillende branches en organisaties. Het bevat ook overdraagbare vaardigheden die van toepassing zijn op professionele ontwikkeling in het veld.
Belangrijkste kenmerken van de cursus
- Oefen elektronica met behulp van onze bekroonde OpenSTEM Labs.
- Ontwikkel uw programmeer- en andere computervaardigheden.
- Kies uit vier focusopties binnen de computertak.

We maken al onze kwalificaties zo toegankelijk mogelijk en hebben een uitgebreide reeks diensten om al onze studenten te ondersteunen. Deze kwalificatie maakt gebruik van een verscheidenheid aan studiematerialen en heeft de volgende elementen:
- online studeren - sommige modules hebben een mix van gedrukt en online materiaal, en andere zijn volledig online. Online leermiddelen kunnen websites, audio-/videomediaclips en interactieve activiteiten zoals online quizzen omvatten
- persoonlijke bijlessen/dagscholen/workshops en/of online bijlessen
- het gebruik van wiskundige en wetenschappelijke uitdrukkingen, notaties en bijbehorende technieken
- werken in een groep met andere studenten

- feedback gebruiken: permanente evaluatie houdt in dat je gedetailleerde feedback op je werk krijgt van je docent en deze feedback gebruikt om je prestaties te verbeteren
- betrokkenheid bij leren en beoordelen binnen een vooraf bepaald schema of tijdschema - tijdbeheer is nodig tijdens je studie en de universiteit zal je helpen deze vaardigheden tijdens je hele studie te ontwikkelen
- voor sommige modules moet je gespecialiseerde software gebruiken.

Knowledge and understanding
On completion of this qualification, you will have knowledge and understanding of:
- The fundamental principles, concepts and techniques underlying computing and electronic engineering
- A range of models, analytical methods and languages support the understanding and analysis of computing systems and electronic systems
- A range of situations in which computing systems are used, how people interact with them, and the possibilities and limitations of such systems
- A range of electronic systems, their purpose and how they operate, and the possibilities and limitations of the components from which they are built
- An awareness of major trends in computing and electronic engineering and of the implications of these trends.
Cognitive skills
On completion of this qualification, you will be able to:
- Apply and critically evaluate key computing and electronics concepts in a range of contexts
- Select and apply techniques and tools for abstracting, modelling, problem-solving, and testing computing systems and electronic systems and their components, and be aware of the limitations involved
- Compare, contrast, critically analyse and refine specifications and implementations of software systems and/or simple hardware systems
- Devise and carry out a project in computing or electronics that applies and extends your knowledge and understanding, and critically reflect on the processes involved and the outcomes of your work.
Practical and professional skills
On completion of this qualification, you will be able to:
- Analyse, evaluate and/or test computing systems and/or electronic engineering solutions, using appropriate simulation and modelling tools where appropriate
- Plan and organise yourself and your work appropriately, including keeping systematic records of work in progress and outcomes
- Demonstrate the ability to undertake ongoing learning to keep up to date with computing and electronic engineering
- Identify and address the ethical, social and legal issues that may arise during the development and use of computing systems and electronic systems
- Use appropriate professional tools to support your work.

On completion of this qualification, you will be able to:

This degree has three stages, each comprising 120 credits.
- In Stage 1, you’ll study two 30-credit computing modules and two 30-credit engineering modules.
- In Stage 2, you’ll study two 30-credit modules from a choice of computing focus areas, choose one 30-credit computing module and study a 30-credit electronic engineering module.

Assessment
Our assessments are all designed to reinforce your learning and help you show your understanding of the topics. The mix of assessment methods will vary between modules.
Computer-Marked Assignments
- Usually, a series of online, multiple-choice questions.
Tutor-Marked Assignments
- You’ll have a number of these throughout each module, each with a submission deadline.
- They can be made up of essays, questions, experiments or something else to test your understanding of what you have learned.
- Your tutor will mark and return them to you with detailed feedback.
End-of-Module Assessments
- The final, marked piece of work on most modules.
- Modules with an end-of-module assessment won’t usually have an exam.
Exams
- Some modules end with an exam. You’ll be given time to revise and prepare.
- You’ll be given your exam date at least 5 months in advance.
- Most exams take place remotely, and you will complete them at home or an alternative location.
- If a module requires you to take a face-to-face exam, this will be made clear in the module description, and you will be required to take your exam in person at one of our exam centres.
